RIUDL Banquet: Please RSVP

Due to popularity, the RIUDL Banquet is now in a bigger location. Now, more than ever, you don't want to miss out on this great event.

Date and Time: Wednesday, March 19th, 5:30pm
Place: The Narragansett Room at the Westin (1 West Exchange St.)

Please make a note of this new location. We will still have a screening of The Great Debaters immediately afterwards at the Providence Place Cinemas. That will start at 7:30.

We have very honorable guests at both events: Providence Mayor David Cicilline will give the opening remarks at the banquet, and Nate Parker, who stars in the film as Henry Lowe will be there for the banquet and the screening.

Mayor Cicilline and Nate Parker will still be there, so please bring your family and remember to RSVP to riudl@brown.edu. Tell us your name and how many guests you are bringing.

State Championships

It's hard to believe that another season is coming to an end. On March 8, Brown University will host the RIUDL 2007-2008 State Championships!

The championships will be located at Brown's Salomon Center, located at the center of this map. Salomon is on the Main Green, where the other Brown tournaments are.

Be sure to check with your CAs next week for pre-registration. Good luck at practices everyone!

Hope Tournament Results

We had an awesome tournament at Hope on February 9, with special guest teams from Boston's Academy of Public Service, Josiah Quincy Upper School, and Charlestown High School.

In the exciting final round between Providence's own Woonsocket DK (1 seed) and Boston's APS CL (3 seed), Woonsocket won a decisive 4-1 on the affirmative, getting to votes of the judges from Providence and Boston.

Congratulations Preeti Kinha and Courtney Dwyer!

Hope Tournament

Our next tournament will be at Hope High School, located at 324 Hope Street (#42 Bus).

Teams from the Boston Debate League will be joining our tournament, so we will be delaying start so they can make it down – please welcome them. Also, there will be a final round between the top varsity Boston team and the top varsity RI team, in the Hope Auditorium. The popular ballot will count as a vote on the judging panel – so stick around!
